Curved band 0.7 on MTSAT VIS at 2330UTC gives a DT of 3.5. Outflow increasing
further to north and system is showing better organisation with persistent deep
convection near its centre. TC is expected to enter a favourable environment for
intensification and ridge to south is expected to steer it towards the west
southwest rapidly.

Este es un potencial dolor de cabeza para los habitantes del noreste de Australia... Se estuvo intensificando sostenidamente en las últimas horas y, según el último informe oficial, tiene vientos sostenidos de 105 mph.

Según la trayectoria que indican los modelos, el ciclón tropical va a seguir desplazándose hacia el oeste y oeste-sudoeste hasta impactar en la costa noreste de Australia entre la noche del miércoles y las primeras horas del día jueves. Lo complicado del asunto es que toda esa zona tiene suelos bastante saturados por las precipitaciones de los últimos 2 meses, así que esto podría dar lugar a eventuales complicaciones...

Sí, Tincho. Acá por ejemplo tenés la última salida disponible del GFS para la zona de Australia y Nueva Zelanda... presión al nivel del mar, cada 24 horas, a 6 días...

Este ciclón es increible, se debilita en tierra, pero cruza todo Australia como depresión tropical, llevando muchísima lluvia a la mitad Norte del país (ni hablar de la costa NE por supuesto). Hay lugares con PWAT de 70, si no me equivoco. Encima por el sur llega un frente espectacular, así que preparense para seguir con estas históricas lluvias en todo el país.

La verdad que sí, es llamativo cómo avanza tierra adentro, donde va a dejar lluvias importantes (sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que el centro de Australia es bien seco...).

Acá les dejo la última imagen IR. Impresionante la estructura del sistema. Está catalogado como cat 4 pero tiene toda la pinta de ser un 5...

Lo mas nuevo es que ya dejaron de evacuar gente, a los que quedaron les dijeron que busquen refugio en donde estén y que si todavía no lo hicieron empiecen a "llenar sus bañeras con agua" (la gobernadora -o algo así- de Queensland), además de catalogar a la tormenta como "the most catastrophic storm ever seen" en ese estado (la verdad ni idea).
